Community Engagement
Round Two
The SMARTer Mobility Program Phase 2 Public Engagement series occurred from May 30th through September 30, 2024. During this phase of engagement, the SMARTer Mobility consultant team presented two network scenarios for public review and comment.
Scenario 1 prioritized increased route frequencies, proposed 12 modified/extended routes, 5 new routes, 4 new flex zones, and 36 routes with increased or modified hours that included 5 FAST routes, 11 routes with 30-minute headways,
and 25 routes with 60-minute headways. Scenario 2 prioritized increased coverage, proposed 13 modified/extended routes, 11 new routes, 5 new flex zones, and 37 routes with increased hours, including 5 FAST routes, 5 routes with 30-minute headways, and 37 routes with 60-minute headways.
Engagement methods included multiple online surveys, public pop-up input tents throughout the three counties, in-person and online public meetings, and focused stakeholder meetings. With Phase 2 complete, the project team will utilize what we heard from you and develop a draft preferred network. Public input on the draft preferred network will start spring 2025.
Check out the graphics below to learn about our key findings from Phase 2.

What we heard about the proposed scenarios
Scenario 1
People like the 20 minute frequencies on FAST routes, the increased frequencies on the high ridership routes to 30 minutes, extended operating hours and weekend service on all routes, and new routes including 162 FAST Trenton, 100 Hamtramck, 430 Main St, and the C3 River Rouge Circulator.
Scenario 2
People like the expanded services and new routes to places that previously did not have access. Participants appreciated the increased connectivity to Hamtramck offered by Route 100 and Route 500. They are also expressed support for the proposed new Route 750 Wixom, and the new Bloomfield Flex Zone.
